We got oscar, our bicolor blenny as a hitchiker. He is named Oscar because he lives in a coral skeleton and is grumpy like oscar the grouch. We have also gotten many mini brittles, bristle worms, stomatella snails, mini 7 arm stars, bluespotted purple mushrooms, and a few different zoas on a piece of rock we bought. We have also been lucky in the fact a great lfs in our area has treated us really well. My wife was bothered by the fact our false perc would not pair with our BTA so he gave us a beautiful black clown, which I do not know the name of. Oddly enough the 2 clowns get along really well, but when threatened the black clown runs right home to his anemone. We were also given a rock with 7 different blue/orange/green ricordeas. If you live in central Texas and want to know of a great LFS pm me and I will give you the name of a great guy that is willing to answer all of your questions, but admits that even though he has been in business for many years even he doesn't know everything.

I got 2 pencil urchins. 2 other urchis that are still in my DT. 1 very large brittle star about 14-16" across. a fire worm that was about 12" long, longer when stretched out. Now this was all in my 12 gallon nano cube. The bigger tanks I got I bought the rock from local reefers. You don't see the weird stuff that way. In some ways watching what came out of the rocks was the most fun part of the whole thing.
But here is a pic one that I never ID'd.

I have found 1 Black Long Spine Urchin. I guess that is what its called. And also does anyone know the growth rate on these little creatures ? Mine was like the size of a pea at first and now it is like the size of a golfball or a little bigger i think maybe. And i have only had my tank for 3 months. Should i trade this thing in or what ? Its in my 24 gallon aquapod. Seems like its getting big but it is the only thing that doesnt knock down any corals or anything. Dont know how it does it with those spiny things.

I would pass out if I saw that in my tank! in a nano! good god man! ewgh I have the shivvvvers!

i just spotted 4 circular, deep purple, mushroom looking things on the lr. They also have orange spots on them. I have no idea what they are, and they dont act like mushrooms, like when i push water on them, they stay completly still

Look in the snail archives. I think there's a snail that looks like that.

Eh, nothing too special.
Feather duster.
Mini white brittles, which are funny because it looks like this one rock they live under is trying to move once I put food in the tank.
Bubble algae, cyano, hair algae.
My favorite, aiptasia.
The coolest is this little stone crab. My dad one day suprised me with a really cool looking rock he found at the beach when the tank was still cycling when we put it in. Turned out it mustve been leeching minerals or something, so we removed it. A week later I noticed a tiny, maybe just larger than a grain of sand crab that was all white and looked pretty vicious and gnarly. I saw it yesterday and its dug some tunnels around the tank and hes the size of a quarter. I expect to see him get bigger and see how it does gets

SCARY!!! Id blast that thing. Theres a worm that looks something like that in the sticky but it supposedly only dwells in the sand. IMO experiment on it!

Well I got this crab looking thing. I noticed it like 3 months later while observing my Hydnophora. IT started to irritate. I kiled it though but I still have one more in the tank. Is it bad??

and then I saw these on my rock. I cannot explain what they are, Anyone have any clue? They are starting to spread after 5 months. I noticed them after having the rock for 3 months, I swear there was nothign there since I scrub my rock and cure it.

Topfins-MJ, those are native to my area. I see em when snorkling and diving all the time. They are predatory, mostly preying on smaller fish. They blend it quite nicely as you can see with the algae on em. Id imagine they could eat some shrimp if they got their hands on it, but I think small, slow fish are the most to worry about. Minnows and such.

Ok good I have a fireshrimp, Cleaner shrimp, two perculas.
I have to find the second crab and get rid of it. It does a great job in camouflaging itself. As for the polyps, I guess they are good to have.

Why does everyone assume this guy is an airhead? I'm sure he takes appropriate safeguards and exercises caution. When I was twelve I used to keep copperheads in 20 gal. tanks.
Besides, animal control people are simply tools of your state and local politicians who could care less about either you or your critters!
