What Is The Reason Or Application For A Close Loop System

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR A CLOSE LOOP SYSTEM ?
Is it only for circulation ?
I have a sump and seperate refuge all tied into one (90 gal )
sump 20 gal and refuge 25 gal mag 12 2 power heads.

It cleans up the display tank and can really increase the flowrate. You dont need powerheads with a closed loop.

A closed loop allows you to use a more powerful pump for water flow. External pumps don't heat the water nearly as much as powerheads either.
