Hi, so we moved around ALOT of rocks in the DT and found this "stuff" at the back of the tank along the side...when we pulled it out it sort glopped into two....any how dont know what it is cant find any info anywhere....all the shells are empty...wright now its the QT till we find out what sort of something it is any help would be great...

are you sure? is it a "bad" sponge...did will kill it then when we took it out of the tank (air exposure)...why does it grow so funny like...what would be a good (if any) place for it? thx

It could most likely die if flow isn't kept over it. I don't know if it is a BAD sponge, but they are very common in the dark areas where there is good flow in LR.

so did i kill (hurt) it when i exposed it to air....did it "eat" all of those snails it has all the shells stuck to it...so you guys think just toss it back in the tank?

Taking them out of water may stop their siphoning ability. Don’t sweat it! You will have more growing somewhere else in the new arrangement. I have moved rocks around and they have died, but were replaced by new ones in the pockets/cavities. Don't be such a worrywart.

Yea they grow in many colors too. Here is a group, that was on the back of this rock I turned around a while back. The shot is a better description of its colors than I care to make!! .......... Like said don't sweat it.. They are a part of the tanks "Growing up" process.

Yea, if anything if the sponge was weak or dieing off from exposure. It is more likely the snails are having a snack on the sponge.......
