I have a fuzzy round thing on a live rock I recently purchased. It's bigger than a dime in circum., but smaller than a quarter and about 1/2 inch tall from top to bottom (at least what I can see of it, it could extend down into my rock i suppose). It hasnt' moved from what I can tell, but I don't think that it's dead either. It's a creamy whiteish grey color.

It could be a sponge of some sort, but it also -in a way- reminds me of a small starfish I had come in on some LR. It was about the same size and color, but had 7 non symetrical points(legs). I at first thought it was a sponge, but closer examination revealed it was definatly a starfish.
There is a good article on them at the GARF site someone here told me about. If you think this is what you have, let me know and I'll find the web site again.

It is more than likely a sponge. I have two in my tank also. They are tan and fuzzy -looking, right? Also, if you look real close you should be able to see openings in it. So far mine has been harmless, and if you want to keep it I can offer this advice, they do not like strong light and place them in a good current, this will keep their pores free of debris.
