What is this little guy

I got him from a friend is he good bad or just something to look at?

He's a bumble bee snail, and is quite fine to keep in your tank.

those snails will eat meat. say a hermit crab dies it will clean it right up.

I got one of those as a hitch hiker on some LR when I first set up my tank. We named him Speedy. Alas, Speedy and my skimmer went to odds and the skimmer won. I kept his shell though, it's still in my tank.

Their are actually alot of different types of species, some are reef safe and some are not.

they do ok against hermits, my hermits didnt seem very interested in them. I think some of mine died of natural causes, not the hermits. i did kill a couple more off when i first gpt my tank though

Some bumble bee snails eat other snails like Astraea snails. I wouldn't worry about one little guy decimating your snail population though.
