What is this on my Astrea?

I noticed this tonight. The little white part sticks out and goes back in.

Has he got some kind of feather duster taking up camp?

I am really not sure. The other feather dusters I have have a fan that sticks out of the tube. What you see here is all that comes out.
Note: There is another one of these creatures on one of my other Astreas.
Ideas???

My snails have tubeworms and tiny barnacles on them. the barnacles come out like little hands waving, could that be what you have?

So do the waving hands come out of a tiny hole at the point of the shell? If so, than I think I have the same. Thanks.

Look to see if there is an sticky invisible string that comes out of it. If its what I think it is, its just a type of worm that catches its food with a sticky thread instead of feather filters. Not harmful, I have a bunch and they like to grow on snails. They dont get very big. I forgot the name BTW.
