what is this on my LR?

Hi, everyone im new here and to the hobby. I just bought some LR from someone who was getting out of the hobby. im wondering what some of the white stuff on it is. Any info would be much appreciated

I would suppose a sponge. Has the rocks been out of water?

the rock was out of water maybe only a few moments we took it out of the someones's tank and put it into buckets with tank water right away.
