Looks like coraline to me. Hard to see in the pic. I'll tell you what, if that's all coraline, I'll trade you the rocks I have that don't have any.

I agree with SaGxMAN. Try rubbing ift off with your finger if it does not come off easy it is most likely coraline.

If the pic is misleading us, it could be cyanobacteria. If it is, it will rub off. When I had a cyano problem I used a turkey baster to blow it away. (Wife could have killed me). But hopefully it is coraline. If it is, I'd say let it grow. There are a lot of people on this board that would love to have more coraline growth.

Thanks for your replies!! Is coraline a good thing? Never heard of it. Is it okay if it grown all over everything? It dosn't blow off or wipe off. My LFS had me do that. It's stuck there! I just want to be sure, as I said, it is slowly taking over the tank.

when you say it's more like moss are you saying that it is soft rather than hard? It is soft and pliable(sp?) I'd say it's not coraline.

Looks like it's growing on the sand? If so I didn't know coraline grew on sand? I wouldve thought cyano.

No, that isnt coraline. Ive had, and I never figured out what it was. Whatever i did, it didnt go away and I had to cleacn it out onc a week. That would be great if it was coraline, but if it isnt then it is a problem for you. This stuff is not good. It killed a Lawnmower blenny that I had, so I guess that it didnt like it. I never fixed the problem though, cuz I got a new tank. Does it rub off really easy, like peel off of the rocks. Then, email me and tell me how it comes off. You might get lucky and get corraline, if not, then I'll try to help you out. K?

No, I don't think it's corraline. It grows fairly quickly. It's soft like moss. It dosn't blow off, however I did take a rock to my LFS, they washed off all the red stuff till it was totally clean. They mentioned that the live rock was no longer live.
Here's a larger pciture, I hope this will help, cuz I sure need it!
Thanx

Can you describe your maintenance routine, lighting routine and how much and how often you feed your fish. Once we know what may be causing it we can help get ridd of it if it is a neusince

If its on the sand I would net it up or suck it up with a filter tube. I would get better water flow in the area and do a water test for phosphates and calcium.
