i have had this coral for about 6 month and it is just thriving, but i have always wondered what it is called, i would like to research it the lfs guy didn't have a clue what it was when i bought it (why does that not suprise me). but really it is a very easy coral, see how it has fragged itself onto more rocks, easy, easy, easy
thank you for all of your help

waving hand anthelia, is what dinhouse meant i think, anyway's i did a look up on a search engine on that and i found what looks like mine, same coral look i juat couldn't find any the large size of mine, all that i found were flat looking, and grew pretty low on the rocks, mine if you look at the pic it grew like a boquet, it is on a pretty flat rock so the ones in the middle have a really long stem and the ones on the outside have a small stem, it is in a 30 gallon tank, and it is probably 8 or 9 inches tall.
thanks for your help, anyone else do you agree with the waving hand anthenia?

How do you control the growth of this. I add a small rock with this to my tank 6 months ago. Now it is growing like crazy in several different patchs. cutting it back is impossible because It just grows back even more and spreads...Help!!!

I agree with the anthelia ID. If you want to control it's growth, take it out of your tank and send the whole thing to me...I will take good care of it for you. :D

If I could take it out..I would send it to you and pay shipping myself!!! I cant get it all out and what is left spreads. My advice is not to add this to your tank. It takes over fast

i agree it does spread really quick, but you can frag it and get great credit at the lfs for it, or if it bothers you that much just rip the new growth off the rock and dispose of it:D see now that wasn't so hard was it:rolleyes:

Tried ripping it off. It is really slimey and it just grows back from the base. Plus if some of it floats away it can grow in a new spot.

Yeah mine keeps growing in the same spot, i do not let any of it get away though, i rip it off and stick it to shells, that stuff will stick in a matter of minutes.

I have some of this stuff also. I put some on a small rock and placed it away from the main rock pile and it has not spread, I guess it won't cross the sand. In my other tank, I put some on the main rock pile, what a mistake, it is growing every where. I just have to keep cutting it back.
