What is this thing I found in my tank?

I was looking at my tank last night and noticed this guy sludging along on a small piece of live rock. I've never seen it before and it is quite peculiar looking. I took it and the peice of rock it was on out of my tank and put it in its own container. I'm curious if anyone happens to know what this may be. :notsure: I'm also wondering if it is good or bad, I don't want to put it back in the DT until I know what it is. (I'm thinking that it may be some sort of flatworm or nudibrach, but I really have no idea) Thanks in advance for the help.

That's not a BVN, they are black with blue lines along them, also they only eat flatworms, so unless you have flatworms in your tank it will starve.

It may be a keyhole limpet snail.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies guys. It looks alot like the Duckbill Limpit. Are they usually flat creatures? Anyhow, if it is indeed a limpit it should be safe to put it back it the tank, don't you guys think?

It is NOT a ducksbill limpet. I was told these are reef killers and I threw mine out into the yard. My 55 was established almost 1 year when I transferred everything over to my 125 and I found him crawling along. I asked on here and was told it was bad. Black, solid white stripe looks exactly like yours. i got rid of mine.

I could be wrong. Put in another tank or something until you find out for sure. I am only telling you what I was told on here in the past. I do not want to stear you wrong. And then you be mad at me. Ha!

I had a few of those. cant remember what they are but some kind of snail thingy. the slit in the middle exposes the disc like shell. They only come out at night and are perfectly harmless. algae eaters. As shown there are a few creatures that fit this description (jet black with split down the middle) so it could be something else. there was a discussion about these before and one ID'd is fairly common while the other people thought it could be was rare to unlikely to get as a hitch hiker.
