I just got this Wrasse. He's not aggressive like all the others ive seen, so i thought i'd give him a go. He's about 4" long.
Ive never seen one like this before. The guy at the shop didnt even know, but said it was quite rare. And i cant find it on the site (or anywhere else!)
Can anyone help, PLEASE!

Looks to me like a bluespotted wrasse (macropharyngodon cyanoguttatus) according to Dr. Burgess Atlas.

It might be. It has some similarities, but mine doesnt have an orange/yellow head. He's all green (with spots) and a blue chest and face, but green lips.
Maybe its just a juvi?

You can try searching family " Macropharyngodon " at fish base. Looks simular to some of them.
Check R. I. P. thread, 3 rd. page, in fish photography forum. Its not the same but close. Good luck.
Edit, not family but genus

Im quite sad now. He's been hiding for a coupla days. Under the sand. He would be fine, as my maroon clownfish doesnt b other him, but my hawkfish chases him so much until he has to go into hiding like this. Im very worried, as he was quite expensive and i dont want the hawkfish to traumatise him too much. But i dont wanna get rid of my hawkfish cos i love him...
Is this behaviour normal? Cos the hawkfish and clownfish got along fine...

Well if you like them both, your stuck in a hard position because the hawkfish is probably gonna keep bugging him and stressing him out for a while. So you basically have to decide, hawkfish or sweet unidentifiable wrasse.

Its a terretory thing, Hawk was there first. Mine was other way around. Wrasse chased the hawk. Went on for months. I got rid of wrasse.

It's the female blue star leopard wrasse. I've got the african and the cook islands females. Does she eat o.k? They always hide under the sand the first couple months. As long as she comes out to eat in the morning.

I never understood the laws of collection from Africa. If you look at these wrasses or especially the gem tangs, they are sometimes impossible to get. If you are lucky enough the gem tang, which doesn't seem to be that uncommon, it will cost huge $.

Well, she comes out in the morning, but im not sure if she has chance to eat cos the hawkfish keeps chasing her away. She doesnt have chance. Im gonna leave it til the weekend and if nothing better im gonna have to get rid of the hawk :(

Get rid of that hawk asap. Until you do, overfeed the hell out of that tank. Make sure she's eating. Otherwise once they get spooked they'll not be aggresive eaters. Mine fights with the chevron tang for first dibs at the clump of food when it hits the water. I don't know what you're feeding it, mine all eat a bloodworm, mysis, cyclopeeze mix. I've heard they'll eat blackworms, but this mix has always worked for me. If she's not eating, YOU DON'T HAVE A LOT OF TIME LEFT!!!

try to rearange your lr and turn the lights off for awhile. This will mess up the territory. Worked for me before with different fish.
