A very bad case of ich. Or, worse, marine velvet. What about other fish in tank? Is this fish breathing labored?

The fish is breathing hard. I only have a Lion in there with him but he is doing great.
Thanks any ideas?

You can't treat with LR. Do you have a QT, can you set one up? I'm assuming this is a new fish.
YOu will need to treat or all your fish will catch this. Are those spots all over, or just around the head?

Well the fish died last night
but it looked as to be only around the head. I guess I will be pulling the lion fish out and start treating him. Should I do the Hyposalinty thing or go with some sort of meds???? thanks beth for the help.

Did that look like ich to you? Was it powdery or did it actually look like dots of ich on the skin?
What kind of tank do you have?

WOW! ..REMOVE THAT FISH NOW! ...put him in a qt tank...use non cycle'd water if you have to...just watch the levels!...make sure that you give him a freshwater dip asap!..it will kill all the ich on him ...leave him in for about 5 mintues...just make sure the water level is the same temp as in the tank, and also make sure the ph is the same..other wise the dip can kill him...then leave him in the qt tank for a few days and he'll feel much better ! :)
i used a 10 gallon for 5 fish once...and they didnt' like it...but they are now healthy. just use the filter you have on your main tank in there qt tank if your worried about levels...just make sure you clean your filter etc.
update...
best of luck!

Well My lion has little dots on him. and he doesn't feel like eating anything. I will be taking him out asap and treating him. I heard it can take up to 1 week for the ich to die off in the main tank. Just wanted to know when I can stick him back in the 90 gallon. thanks for your help.

ich will take more than a month to die off...it can take up to 3 weeks...i would be doing freshwater dips for a few days and treat the tank with some sort of med....and in your main tank crank the heat up to 90degrees for about 2 weeks with NO live animals in it..and that will kill the ich...or you can treat the tank with copper, but then you will NEVER be able to have inverts again....just depends on what you want to do...i run copper in my main tank...to insure i never get ich...one time was enough for me....just i wont have inverts :(
but ..seriously pull those poor fish out! :)

Well I have just one fish in there..which is a lion. which is coming out as soon as the QT is setup. I have live rock in there and a bunch of Xenia. so not sure what I will do with the main tank.

TAKE NOTHING FROM YOUR MAIN TANK OTHER THEN THE FISH INTO THE QT...also make sure you give the lion a fresh water dip! ..then treat the water with copper, or some type of parasite med,....i like copper...but some people dont...your choice...

also in the main tank once all the fish and verts are out...turn the heat up to 90+ degrees for a week or 2...that should kill the ich,....i dont like to wait...so when it happend to my tank i broke the whole thing down, and boiled everything...and had it up again the next day...but it still had to wait awhile to be cycled.

Whoa there. Here is the most recommended way to treat your fish (if it is indeed ich):
Put the fish in a QT as soon as possible. Over a 48 hour period, lower the salinity of the water to 14ppt or 1.009 SG (whichever you measure by). This is called hyposalinity. Keep in mind that if you don't have a refractometer, your hydrometer is most likely not accurate. Leave your display tank fallow for one month (ich has a 21 day life cycle, but it is better to be safe than sorry by going a few days more than that). After three to four weeks (four is preferable) of having the lion in hypo, slowly raise the salinity back to its normal level. At this time, you may acclimate your lion back to your display.
Note: At MOST the temperature of your display tank should be raised to 86. However, since you'll have to leave it fallow for a month as it is, raising the temperature isn't necessary. Temperatures that are too high can kill your live rock. :)
