What Is This!!

Last spring, i was at a pet store and the owner gave me this little frag... Its never done anything... he said he thought it was dead... However, its still kickin.. i tank even crashed at one point.. but this lil guy is still with me... it actually looks like there is new growth... but i have no idea what it is...
At night, it opens up a lil bit...

any ideas?

I wouldnt say dart in and out... they mostly come out when the light is dim.. or when i have the lights off... more at night.. in the day, it just kinda lays there...
Any ideas?

I'm with jjlittle, looks like a chili coral. If it is, they prefer dimmer areas (since they are not photosynthetic) and flat or even hanging upsidedown if you can do that. Good current though, cyano will build on them.
