what is this clicking i am hearing in my tank?
its the first time.

It could be a mantis shrimp....how much live rock do you have? It could have hitch hiked

If you have a stealth heater they can have a click also when the turn on or off. I have had one that I returned because the contacts clicked so loudly.
Oh yeah a hermit or snail shell can also click against the glass sometimes.

I had a hermit that was determined to get through a small gap between some LR and the glass for 2 days. eventually he fell off the rock. but for 2 days its was tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap

Do you have any damsels? They have a timer and go postal, attacking anything when it goes off.

lol i have all of those things!
i have a green/blue cromis, i have 2 perculas i have like 25 pounds of LR, about 5 hermits.
and i have recently bought a small piece of LR.
there r so many things it could be.

if the clicking started after u bought the liverock take it out and hypersalinity it and see if anything comes out.

probably a hermit crab trying to climb would be my guess. Especially since you only have a small peice of LR. WHen i had my first tank, my hermits would try climbing up the rocks and such and bounce against the glass making a clicking noise
