Does anyone know what this is? It has been growing for a while now. I think it looks like some sort of plating algae. I have never seen this before. It is in my 90 gallon.

I knew someone was going to say something about that.
. I have some pepermints in there that are supposed to be taking care of those. But the aptasia dosent seem to bother it. but i will get rid of it myself.

The hubby dosnt seem to think it is the same but coralline does grow in different colors. I think that is plating coralline i will take a pic to the LFS tomorrow and see what they think. I agree with you though..

My dad has some of the plating coraline in his tank. Really cool, it doesnt look much like yours. More purple. But it might be just a different kind. Looks cool no matter what.

is there anyway to promote the growth of these really cool coraline structures or do they just come on their own??

The variegated "leaves" had me puzzled, then found a picture of Lobophora variegata so yours may also be this.

I have Lobophora and it doesn't look like that. If I had to guess I would say you were right the first time. I would go with coralline. But the growth pattern is interesting...

That would be a rare type of coralline algae... good find! when it starts to take over a bit more, break pieces off and sell it :D :D

I'm from the sharing era.... well, if I never put any or much effort into it and it was a hitchhiker. It's also a good insurance in case you happen to loose yours. You can share with the stipulation they'll share back if something happens to yours.
