What is this??

i found this in the bottom of a liverock pile at my LFS i know it's something the rock is 4" around and it cost me $5.00. what do you all think

looks like xenia or anthelia to me. do the polyps pulse? my xenia keeps melting and recovering. when it melts it leaves a mat that looks exactly the same and the new xenia grows out of it.

My guess is that it's star polyps. After a few days in your tank, the polyps should start to come out more. When healthy, they'll look like a waving patch of grass. In this case, probably light purple grass.

My vote is Star Polyps..Good deal for 5 bucks, but they'll take over your tank...

ive never seen star polyps with a white mat. they are normally purple.

thanks thats what i was thinking (star polyps)
it was upside down in the tank when i got it the white was trowing me off too
