Well I am here to help and learn as everyone else is. And I by far do not know everything, but will be willing to share everything I have learned as most of my knowledge has come from these boards and reading.
To address your antibiotic statment, its generally not a good idea to dose your tank with any medication weather its herbal or anything else. I have made the error twice when starting out to treat my tank with an antibiotic for cyano bacteria. And although it rid my tank of it, it also adversly affected a lot of things in my tank too. Just as an FYI, all medicating and or dosing should be done in a QT IMO.
