Nasty stuff...bubble algae...I've been fighting it for a year or more. I believe mine was introduced along with coral purchases. Its not a major problem if kept under control. I use a combination of emerald crabs & manual removal...combined they keep it somewhat under control...but it also pops back up. I'm in the market for a small foxface lo in hopes that it'll consume what the emralds fail to munch.

I havent added any rock or coral for quite some time. I wish could get a foxface to eat it, but I only have a 46 gal reef tank. I dont seem to be able to keep an emerald crab, as I suspect that my hawkfish makes short work of them. My LFS says to take out the piece of rock that it's mostly on and run it under fresh water and scrub it. What do you think of this idea?

I have removed LR and cleaned bubble algae off...but I would hesitate to rinse with fresh water. When I have done it I've saved 5-10 gal of water removed from my system for water changes...then I use the old tank water to clean/rinse...using freas water could damage the bacteria and assorted other stuff that makes LR such good stuff.
