Just as the title says...
What is your favorite odd ball reef safe fish? Something that isn't your typical bread and butter stock at your live fish store. Give a little background on it and maybe even a picture!

I dunno if I can say I have a FAVE, but every fish in our gallery is reef safe:

I'll be glad to answer any specifics anyone may have.

Hmm, if I had to choose an "oodball" reef fish I would say dragon face pipe. They're reef safe, can handle strong flow, and definitely not something you see every day in your aquarium. Strongly thinking of keeping one or two in mine.
Now, it may be reef safe, but not really something that's kept successfully.....a Dragon Sea Moth. VERY interesting animal to look at, in the same order (though different family) as seahorses, able to change its color to suit its surroundings....altogether a very weird fish. Probably one best left in the ocean, tho.

Yup. For a time I was thinking of keeping my 20g up and running as a pipefish only tank after it served its purpose QTing the fish for the 110g, but lately I've been thinking with their feeding habits that they might be better off in a large tank with plenty of live food to go around.

Very nice choice.
I would personally waite for awhile as these beautiful creatures very rarely if at all eat frozen offerings. They primarily eat copods. They will compete with the mandarines.
Just a thought.
