yeah.....when pizza hut, papa johns , and dominoes are your fav's then you need to get out and let your taste buds experience something it has never had before...the only problem is once you know what your missing, it will drive you nuts. NY pizza is good if like paper thin pizza and eating it like a sandwhich.

It's a shame that there are places where you can't find really good pizza and when the best is any of the places you've mentioned it's a sad thing.
I hear ya! I'm guessing you're from near Chicago, the only other place in the US where you can get real pizza!

Our pizza is good here in Chicago but I prefer the NY style, which is more along the style I make when I take the time to make my own pizza.
Anyone have a really good crust or sauce recipe they wanna share?

That is similar to my recipe for crust.
I use 3 cups of high gluten flour; King Arthur is a good brand
8 oz cool water
Table spoon of honey
1 packet of active yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil.
Start off with all the water in the mixing bowl and add half the flour and everything else use mixer for 5 minutes. I think let it sit for 10 minutes before adding the rest of the flour. After the 10 minutes I mix for 10 minutes and then let it sit for 5 minutes. Mix for another 10 and at this time if you take a pinch of the dough and pull it, it should have a window type of effect, which is where you want it.
Then refrigerate for minimum of 8 hours. This dough will produce a very nice crust that has a great texture and taste...it's a NY style dough.
Bake at 500degrees on pizza stone.
I have no sauce recipes that are worth sharing :(
