What Kind Of Algae Is This????

hello
i have a problem and i need some help
can anyone tell me what kind of algae this is?
i bought this tank a couple weeks ago and the person who i bought it from had this problem to and since i bought the tank with the LS it is now my problem i thought i could handle it but its starting to get out of hand(as you can see from the pics) or is it normal to have a film like this in a saltwater aquarium?
75 gal
43 blue legged crabs
4 emralds
no snails
starting to get my corals
50 lbs LR
also i got my water tested at the LPS and it tested fine(not city water, well water)
everything tests ok SG 1.24, PH 8.3,ALK.in normal range,AMMONIA 0,NITRATE 0,
to start me off right i took all of his water with me so all i had to do is put it back in the tank and start it besides adjusting a little bit
everything is doing fine its just this problem im having

get some nass snails that would make sure your sand is sifted alot and they will each all your algae in your sand. whats in your refugium? cheato? what kind of water are you using now ro wateR?

I had similar problems, my lfs told to start investing in snails. 1 snail per gallon. I thought that was alot, so I have about 20 mixed kinds. But the ones that really seem to chomp on the algae are the mexican turbo snails. They are bigger and seem to always be moving and eatting the algae in the tank. You should also test your phosphates. I found my were too high and the algae loves it. hope this helps

that is also cheato in my refugium but i ordered it from cali and i think it died on the way here
its been real cold around here lately so i think it froze which sucks so i will have to get some closer
and im still using my well water

i heard 1 per 2 gallons but i will try anything to ride me of this problem and i will throw in a few Mexican type as well
i dont have a phosphates testing kit but i will make sure to get one
but if the phosphates are to high is there any chemicals to lower it?
also i heard to cut down on light but with me getting coral wont that hurt them to not have a extended light source time during the day?

I would also reccomend snails as well as more LR to boost the filtration capacity of your tank.
I woyuld also reccomend returning the anemone untill your tank is more established, they need pristine water conditions and mature tanks, believe me you dont want it to die in their it will cause BUKU problems.

when i get more money im going to get another 30lbs of LR
and what kind of problems will it cause with the tank if the anemone would die
hes doing very well right now and hes only like a $7 animal
i test my water constantly and ive done a 20% water change already

the pollution from one dead anemone can crash an established tank. I'm talking serious ammonia nitrite and nitrate issues. killing everything else. right now there is no way your tank could handle it dieing. I'm not trying to spook you I am just trying to prevent tragedy. one of my friend lost almost everything in his tank when his anemone kicked off and his tank was well established with ample filtration and tons of rock, we are still unsure as to why it died but it was a horrific expiriebnce for him. his ammonia went well over 7. the anemone was only five or so inches. If your water is great and your tank is well filtered and lit you may succeed with it. Its just very risky in young tanks.

I also would get rid of the anenome. If that is a Condy (because it was cheap) I think those things will snatch fish if they get the chance.

I think your set up is very nice, and in due time could support an anemone successfully. right now with so little rock its going to be hard to avoid minor spikes in ammonia and trites and trates that can push it over the edge, some times there are no signs of the anemone failing and you just wake up to a cloudy tank. take it slow and steady, and you will have a beautiful tank.

I would ask the place you bought it from if they can hold the anemone for you for a little while, or if you can make an arrangement with a local fellow reefer.
What is your lighting? Anemones need the higher lighting.
What exactly was your well water tested for and could you post the results of those tests?
I agree with the Turbo snails - they're great. And more Live Rock.

10X4watt MOOM LIGHTS LED
my water was tested for PH is all i think and they said it would work and all i might need is PH buffer(thats what they told me)

your lighting is definatly sufficent for an anemone. I would work on getting more live rock and a good cleaning crew in there. in a couple months you'll be ready for one. (depending on how much rock you can afford to add at once)

but it hasnt snagged any yet(i have 2 clown fish) but im going to take it back

LR will have to wait for alittle bit but im ordering the rest of my chemicalsand testing supplies tomorrow went to my LPS and they were out of phosphate testing kits so im ordering all my chem. at this site and friday im ordering

10 nassarius snails
20 regular turbo snails

also got a free lettuce nudi which is cool
also ordered my Red Sea Phosphate Test kit too
i know a bit overboard on the snails but im serious about getting this algae problem under control

also wanted to ask if anyone that buys from this site if this place is good about replaces for saltwater animals that die in the 15 day guarantee span???

because just this morning i got home from work and noticed my new cleaner shrimp was dead

did the acclimation like the site said and water testes fine(i know because i retested after finding it did all tests) and i feed them all correctly too for some reason it was dead though

I'm glad you have MH lighting so you can get your anemone back later.
I don't know about your state, but here if you want to use well water in your house (especially for drinking and cooking), you have to do a lot more tests on it. They usually test for different hydrocarbons, etc. Also, total solids is a big test for using the water for your reef tank. Do you have an RO filter? Is the well water filtered?
