Looks exactly like my BTA does right when my lights go out. I thought it was just a normal GTA with a little color variation... So there are different types other then rose and regular BTA (green)?

umm no that name is given to several different color morphs of the anemone the anemone itself isnt 4 colors but there are 4 MAIN colors they come in.

I was speaking English, thats the scientific name. You aked "what kind of anemone do I have?" Hey don't be disapointed you got one darn good deal. I can't decide if it looks more like a rose(pic1) or more like a green(pic4). I just picked up one and paid 3X what you paid. I would say the particular color you have is not that common. It's georgous isn't that enough?

I would just be happy that you found a gorgeous anemone. And for $20... that's still an awesome deal ya know.

Rare color morphs of the bta are what brings in the $$$. I have seen a hot pink morph of a RBTA, that was not bleached but its natural color looked HOT Rose.. WOW... it brought a pretty penny for its clones. Much more than a normal RBTA would. In the 4 colors that are normally seen with these animals the morphs that they are found in can sometimes make it difficult to tell if your seeing a healthy specimine or a slightly bleached normal color.

Interesting... Maybe i'll try to get mine to split:)
WHat causes these morphs? I mean i know in animals in order to get certain characteristics you cross breed them or bread out certain traits, in anemones how the heck do you do that? Is it just a trait that BTA are starting to 'evolve' to within the home aquarium?

i dont know for sure, but each color probably has its roots somewhere in a genetic mutation during meiosis/mitosis (do anemones reprodce sexually too)

yes they can breed sexually, but that is extremly rare in captivity, however this is where you see exotic color morphs.
And I believe you have just a brown/green BTA...sorry, the only killer deal to be seen is the one I got on my RBTA for $30.00

Its hard to tell from my pic but this is a purplish with yellow tips. I have never seen any of these before just the common red and green. I was told it was a purple BTA but I can't find anything on it?
