What kind of Equipment

:help: Hey guys, I been doing research on starting a saltwater tank, and I was just wondering what kind of equipment do you need. I've been searching equipment for a SW tank, and I find so much stuff. I was just wondering what equipment is neccesecary to keep a tank. Thanks for your time.

Will it all depend on what size and what kind (fish only or reef) of tank you want to start with.
Basically you need these:
tank
light
skimmer and/or filter
heater
pump/s
some live rock
live sand
salt or salt water
di/ro water

Thanks alot. How about for a 29 gallon reef tank. I'm planning to maybe add a few clown fish, a blue hippo, and other peacful fish. Also, How do I get the water for the tank?

I think for Perc you want to get a mated pair.
29g may be too small for Hippo, do some reserch on that.
You can buy salt water at your LFS
or mix salt w/ ro/di water. I don't know how's the tap water in Japan, I may not want to use tap water for mix.

How about a UV sterilizer? I heard that it's not good for a reef tank. Is that true. Thanks

I think that would be ok, but check for the max. of size that works with. I have a hung -on-back skimmer too, so far so good, and save space.
Don't have experience w/ UV sterilizer, but I don't think you really need that.
