What kind of scenery do you put in a fish only tank?

I have a fish only tank with a crushed coral bottom and some coral pieces. Was wondering what else to but in the tank besides just Live rock. Any pics or ideas would be grateful.
If there are any web sites to see pictures of tanks that would be great. Thanks ahead of time...

Yes it would be, But is that all you could put in there or are there something else to put in besides just live rock.... What do you have in your tank?

Put in live plants ... But since you have a crushed coral substrate, I dont know how well they would do ... ...Personally, I dont like anything "fake" in my tank ... Real plants and LR and sand do great in my eyes.

hey, bud!! you can go to your aquarium dealer in the town you live in. since you are a starter it is best to start with fake plants! it is a lot easier to take care of and when you get used to your marine tank then you can go to live plants! but for now this would be the way to go. you asked what kind of plants?? there are many to choose from, your dealer will help you to choose. there are four sizes. small, medium, large and tall. all sizes and kinds of plants will do. it is just a personal preferance. have fun!

Go take a look at the PHOTOGRAPHY section of this site !!! :joy: It's full of awesome pictures of a ton of peoples tanks from this board!!! I dont like fake plants! they'll get dirty with algea fast and look horrible. Go without . . .Just my opinion!
Have fun!

I had fake plants in my tank for about a month. Ended up removing them because they didn't look natural. IMO I would just stick with the live rock.

Just for fun...
I got on-line, and found a picture of a great white shark, printed it and cut it out then taped it to the back of my tank. My backround is black, so he really stood out... (until the algea covered him). But it was really cool. By the way, the shark was only about 3 inches long, so he looks like he's real far back.

i have had fabric plants for a while now and they look great!! yes every two monts you have to take them out and soak them in warm water. the algea and salt mcomes right off since the fabric is water proof. but again it is a personal peraferance!! habving live rock only in your tank is okay!, but your fish would love to have a place to hide or even sleep behind the foilage!! have fun!!!

My girls got me one of those "magnetic" sharks for Christmas..
The kind where one half is inside and the other outside the tank...
Kind of looks like its's swimming "through" the glass...:D

the only decoration ive seen done well, or at least thought wasnt tacky, was live rock.
if you've just got a FO anyways, spring for some of the nicer, more decorative rock. A branching rock or some nice marshal islands looks great in a FO.
fenner has some terrific pictures of a few beautiful FO's with tonga slab and branch in them.
for my money, even the nicest tanks walk a thin line between beautiful and tacky, and going natural is the best way to avoid the latter.
good luck.
ps. do you have a picture of your current tank? whats in it?

A great place for these types of plants is someplace.com
As a matter of fact, they have an outstanding selection from Seagarden that are very life-like.
