What kind of snail is this?

Found this on my zoo's.. thought it was a piece of the rock until it started moving!

Looks like a Turbo to me - see what the experts say - They are good - was it a hitch hiker?

yes it was -- the zoos were in a tank with all the variety of snails they lfs had.. so im not sure which one it could be.... i was thinkin turbo tho..moves fast! lol

You should have a few of these in your tank, I have mexican turbo snails, nassarius (bet I spelt that wrong). Nice to get a freeby every now and then.

i had 2 nassarius (if those are the smaller ones) and the hermit crabs i have just slaughtered them... didnt even take the shells... !!

They can be bad - I took one off a huge turbo the other day.

Has the look of Astreae sp.
Typically they are Diatom consumers.

went back to the lfs, and saw that they stock 'trochus' snails in the tanks where they keep the corals.... so i guess its a trochus?

The tight bands could also point to a Trocus. I'd need to see the opening with the snail retracted to know for sure. Either way, Diatoms are the main food but either may take advantage of dried algae sheets.

I get free things too XD i got 4-6 eletric blue leg crabs and i got a coral free which was 80$ o.o and a sea unchin and hmmmmm and that it that came with a live rock the rock is 6 lb and the live rock cost 100$ is that a good price or did they pay me too less XD
