Can you tell me what kind of substrait this is?

I suspect it is crushed coral which would explain why my 20 nassarius snails stay off of it.

its crushed coral or a very Large grain sand not the best type of substrate IMO, and its very dirty, you can see the detritus the worm has used as a base for his tunnel, it is in severe need of a siphoning or three.

So what would happen if I removed all of this crushed coral and replaced it with Live Sand? Would my tank crash? I will do a syphon job on it this weekend.

shouldn't. I replaced my sand bed with florida live sand shipped overnight and besides an overactive skimmer it did not cause a cycle.

no but you stand the chance of initiating a spike or cycle as most people call it. IMO that would be the best route.

So I read another post that said to:
Remove all livestock into a bucket with powerhead & heater
Remove all LR into another bucket(s) with another powerhead & heater
Remove all CC and toss it out
Put Rocks back in
Add LS
Put Livestock back
Sound right?

What should I do with the 2 coral frags I have (branching hammer & zoanthids) ? They are not yet secured to anything as they are pretty new.
