Keep it alone.. They snap down the road. My LFS had an adult and overnight it managed to kill a extra large lion fish by biting it in the only area spines aren't exposed well. It also killed another large fish in the tank.. can't remember what it was. I've personally never kept one but I don't hear many positive things about it with other tank-mates.

Well i have heard positve
But ya i mean would a 70g be good enough for it damn i was really looking forward to it shareing a tank with my lion but i would choose my lion over any C.T. any day

IMO 70 isn't large enough to house a clown by itself when it's an adult. They grow pretty large. A 125 would probably be the best bet. I wouldn't put your clown with the lion, I think it would nip at it's long fins. The lion that got killed was actually much bigger than the clown trigger, It got a huge chunk taken out of the back of his neck along the spinal cord.

There are people that have had "good" Clown Triggers for a few years, the problem is they eventually turn into Clown Triggers, this is a fish that I would love to have in a community tank someday, but discretion has been the better part of valor thus far.....This is a highly risky fish to keep with other fish.

I've have always heard that clown triggers eventually snap. I saw one in a 1500G tank last night and he was pacing the acrylic like a crazed fish the entire time I was there.

"listen baby, I cant have your fish tearing my fish apart! so how about this we spend a couple extra *cough*hundred*cough* dollars and buy a Dragon Morey eel!
No joke she goes just like this
"your coughs not going away from that cold you have had these past days"
i just look at her and smile and go nope so what do u say we do that instead so goes ok and smiles

Clown triggers are ok with other aggressives... but DEFINITELY not a lion. Most other triggers would be ok, along with most groupers and aggressive eels. Even angels, aggressive tangs and wrasses could be ok.
The trick with the CT is simply to provide adequate space and hiding places for tankmates. In a 70 gallon, any fish will eventually get mutilated, and the CT will outgrow the tank by itself. But in a 200-300 gallon tank, filled with caves and caverns, you could house the trigger indefinitely with other aggressives. Something may get picked on here or there but for the most part the fish tend to do well for a long time.
Now this may all go out the window when you have a 12" trigger stalking the tank. But that would take quite a while...

Please never put a CT (or most triggers) in with a lion It isn't a question of if the lion will be shredded, its when. Some of the larger, speedy wrasse can often be good tankmates. Bottom line: IMO, a 70 gal is not nearly big enough, long-term, for a CT anyway. CTs get huge.
