It's not myth, but superstition.
I believe that the first person across the threshold of a house immediately after midnight, should be the man of the house holding money and bread. That will bring money and food to that house all year.
My superstitious dad does this every year. The one year he missed, the steel mills (where he worked) shut down and he lost the THREE houses that he owned in Ohio.
He never missed another year and has been doing very well ever since.

You might be right on this one. I have caught many SpoonBill Catfish they would get tangled in my troutline/catfish line around the bill all the time. I got one that was 7 foot long that took down our whole line. It was a mess. They are plant eaters come to find out. We stopped putting lines out due to the large number of them in that lake. The first one we caught we took home (about 5 foot) and ate it OMG GOOD FISH!!! Full of Roe. Come to find out they come with a very heavy fine if found in your boat (La.) don't know about Tx, or MS though. But strange looking and very large freshwater fish indeed! Big fish did not get that big by just jumping all around for the world to see. Nessy I think is real yet we just don't know what it is or the true size of it.
I think there many living things that are real that we have yet to see, like Nessie,Bigfoot, that sort of stuff.
Jesus that happend too! I think so anyway! The bible tells us there are many worlds. I think about that often....

Close but no. It is a paddlefish they don't get as big as the Sturgeon. LARGEST CAUGHT was over 18 foot long & 2000lbs +
