What next???

SO far our tall 150 gal is humming along nicely. Thanks to all of y'all. Whether you know it or not most you have helped us in one way or another. We have a nice active sand bed with about 10 snails and a dozen hermit crabs, found some cool fireworms today too! We have about 40# of live rock and 30# of base rock. We buy a piece every visit to the LFS. All the live rock is coloring up nicely even though we are under lighted but the tank gets quite abit of natural light I know that helps with algae growth. We have a pair of Ocellaris Clowns (Bozo and Crusty) a Coral Beauty Angel and Peppermint shrimp. Tomorrow we are getting our first SWF.com order in. It contains 2 urchins, 3 Green Chomis, and the 30-90 gallon Reef pack. We are going to chill out on adding anything but rock for awhile but I would love to hear what you guys think of our set up and what would be a good next addition. This is a FOWLR tank but we would like an anemone when we upgrade our lighting. Thanks!

+1
Once you have some real $$ invested in fish/inverts you're gonna really want one to prevent a "wipe out" so it might be a good idea to set up one early on and qtine fish & inverts in it. Usually the little 10-20g tanks work fine and are pretty cheep.

I thought about that the other day when I saw an aquarium on the side of the road that a guy was selling for $5. Looked to be 30 gal or so, had a light, looked to be in good shape. Was going to go back an pick it up when I was headed home but totally forgot about it.

There now that is what I am talking about. How long has your tank been set up. BTW that clown looks tiny in that tank, not a bad thing. Tells us a bit about your system!!

It has been set up for a couple months. 2 ocellaris clowns, 1 coral beauty, peppermint shrimp. Small clean up crew until tomorrow when that order shows up.
No sump, no refugium. Nothing fancy. Filstar XP3 can filter and hang on filter that I am not sure of the brand right now... 2 Koriolia (sp) 1050 PH. We seem to be getting good flow and good filtration. We got some filter material and a biowheel from the LFS to jumpstart the tank and everything has gone smooth as butter.

If you don't mind taking a ride over to the bluff I have few tanks laying around the garage. I could probably spare one of my 55g tanks for pretty cheap. I don't have any special equipment for them but I have hoods and bulbs that would work fine for a quarantine tank.

Everything looks tiny in that big box of water! But I want a tank with lots of life not just a couple big fish swimming around in it. We need LOTS more rock but that will come with time.

Everything takes time and in this hobby if you take your time everything will be fine. Didn't mean to be a poet LOL

Cool, let me stew on it tonight and I'll shoot you a pm probably tommorow. I also have some tubs full of extra base rock and sand as well if you're looking for more rock. I'll hit ya up.

I would suggest getting a lot more rock, as you have said. Base rock works great, the sooner you establish a good cycle with your rock the better things will come along.
