My 100g tank is lighted with a 400w MH and 2-f40 flourecents( a actinic and a 20,000k).
My 20,000k burned out and I'm not able to get to my lfs for a new lamp.
The MH alone leaves the tank looking yellow.
But, I found a "GRO" f40 bulb and hooked it up.
D@#m the colors it brought out!
My tank has never been so colorfull!
Everything looks so nice!
Anyone know any reasons not to keep using it?
I suspect that it will promote algae.
Could really use some feed back on this one!

If your MH is yellow, id say its the wrong one for a tank, It may be the one for street lights, Where and when did you get it,They should be replaced every 12 months, I have 2 175w 10,000k bulbs and no yellow at all, Just check the bulbs HTH

No. My lamp is a 10,000k (german). It is getting old and needs to be changed though, lol
I guess my question is: Are gro lamps harmfull?
They add a wonderfull spectum of light out.
