What other High School does this?

So we are having this DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE CAMPAIGN WEEK. I'll tell you the story:
We got to school on Monday and the bell rang for first period @ 8:14 am. Once that bell rang there was another ring @ 8:15 and ended with a heart beat and the e.r beep.
During 3 period we had an assembly for all the upperclassmen.(juniors and seniors) And we all gathered in the football field. There were "police line do not cross" things preventing us to pass past the bleachers where there were 3 school buses parked really close to each other as if they were trying to prevent us from seeing what was on the other side. The dj was playing music and he suddenly stopped the music.
BANG. The buses drove away and there was 2 cars.(both crushed) one flipped over. and there were two bodies by the car that was flipped over. one body was still hanging out of the window of the flipped car. And this girl in pink runs around calling 911 and checking out the accident(she came out of the flipped car). you could here here actually talking to the 911 operator throught the dj.
So she describes the accident and sounds scared and everything and the operator sends 2 cops. Both on the motorcycle. When this guy comes out of the upright car and he's stumbling and wobbling. and the girl in the pink starts to hit him and yelling at him. and she runs over to the officers. (EVERYONE EXCEPT THE OFFICERS ARE STUDENTS FROM MY SCHOOL). So she tells everything to the officers and they inspect the cars. Then they look at the girl hanging out of the car and one officer looks at the other and nods. Then he goes to the other girl and begins to talk to her. Meanwhile 2 firetrucks come with sirens and everything. and they begin to pull apart the upright car. breaking the windshield and bending the top part of the car to take out someone that was inside the car still.
One of the officers begins to talk to the "drunk" driver and tells him to sit in the vehicle. Ambulance arrives and they begin to tend the girl from the second vehicle. Another ambulance arrives and they pull out the girl that was hanging over the window of the flipped over vehicle and put a cloth over her. (she is now pronounce dead). So they begin to tend to the other from car #2 and begin to put her in the stretcher.
The firefighters by now got the top of the car off and begin to pull out the girl that was trapped inside and the ambulance people begin to strap her up. the police begin to take photos and take measurements of some sort and right it down on a piece of paper.
one cop was beginning to put cones at the far end of the field.
when everyone looks behind us and there is a helicopter coming our way. it passes over us and keeps going straight. so there it looks like if it's just going to fly over us. but it stops in midair and turns and slowly begins to descend. it finally lands on the field and they begin to carry the girl that was trapped to the helicopter. they load the first girl into the ambulance when the highway patrol comes and the ones that are in ford explorers. and they look at the accident and begin to talk to each other.
one of the police officers lets the drunk guy come out and begins to ask him questions. He tells him to do several tests and you could see that he was stumbling doing what the cop was telling him to do. Then this white "casket car" comes in to the scene and they begin to work on the dead girl. they put her on a board and then put her in a body bag. they zip up the body bag and put a silk cloth over here and begin to push her into the casket car. everyone begins to leave except for the firefighters and the police car and the two officers on the motorcycles. One police officers begins to talk to the drunk driver again and tells him "see that dead body there, you are responsible for that". he handcuffs him and begins to tell him that he is arrested for driving under the influence, etc. they put him in the car and drives away. then the firefighters leave. and finally the two guys on the motorcycles. and we head back to class

Not exactly like that but at the highschool I went to in Texas we had a mock drunk driving car accident assmebly where they had 2 wrecked cars and some kids pretending to be injured and they had the helicopter fly in. Then at the highschool here in Ohio that I went to we had a assembly before prom where I guy drove home drunk and got an a accident and he ended up with severe brain damage. He spoke at the assembly and they showed the story of how it happened on "Rescue 911".

Then during class that day there was a grim reaper figure walking around school taking kids out of class. I got the chance of seeing one of my classmates get picked:
the reaper would stand at the door and knock really hard. he would come in and a girl would walk around the class with a black flowers in her hand. she finally stopped this guy and put the flower in his desk. when the reaper says that you are know dead and come with me etc. and a lady officer begins to read some information on the guy that was in my class: like his dob, his hobbies, his future plans, and how he died. They took out like 20 kids in total. left a black flower in their desk and no one could sit there for the rest of the week. the names of the kids that died were on a little grass part of the school walking off campus. it said their names, dob, and death. like

APRIL 27,1990- APRIL 2-2007.
turns out that the the drunk driver was actually taken to jail, the girl in the helicopter was taken to a major hospital 45 miles away. and the girl in the ambulance was taken to a local hospital. the dead girl was taken to the morgue. and the 20 kids were taken to a hotel where they could have no interaction with their parents. as if they would of died. BTW police went to each of those 20 kids parents and told them that their child had died in a car accident. etc.

Then the next day we had another assembly inside the gym. and they brought in all the 20 kids. and a casket. and they showed a video of the entire thing. and what happened to the kids in the dramatization.
the drunk driver actually spent the night in jail
the girl in the ambulance was taken to a local hospital and was said that she was now paralyzed from her neck down.
the girl in the helicopter was taken to a major hospital 45 miles away. they showed when they got her out of the helicopter and taken into the hospital. they did that shocking thing on her. then finally they said that she had died.
the girl that died at the scene was in the morgue. and her parents had to go identify her.
some kids read letters that they had wrote to their parents as if they had really died. all of those kids began to cry and I knew that most of the girls were crying. i myself was feeling like I wanted to cry but i held it. we had some speakers talk about drunk driving. and we were dismissed

Most all High Schools do. Its corny and might seem like a waste of time, but if it sinks in to just one single teen then its worth it. We did those scenes back when I was in high school. For the record I can play a mean corpse.
It is intended to put the consequence in your face.
Fact- drunk driving is dangerous and could seriously hurt or even kill someone.
still countless folks do it and think bad things only happen to other folks. Put a few of thier friends dead on the grass in front of them and it is thought to make them re-think thier logic and bring the truth home to them. Even if its staged and fake, it still promotes thoughts of tragidy within THIER OWN lives and within thier circles instead of just on the news or horror stories. Corny but I still support it.

Well, that is one way to get the message through! The message is strong and clear. I bet it scared the hell out of you all. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. Do you know how many DD accidents there are every year? This is a huge problem, mostly in the HS to College kids (age wise) being the drivers. Do you know who the usual victims are? EVERYONE. I commend your school for taking it so seriously. Not two weeks ago we had 3 drunk teenagers in a car out-running the cops. They took out an elderly couple in their car and a store sign. By the time they were caught they had no rear tire left. They were riding on rims. Their reasoning? They didn't want to get caught so they tried to out run the cops. The couple died in that crash.

I understand the impact of keeping the scene and actors in character, but words cant describe the type of storm I would be at the police station. I would breaking some people and some furniture down at the police station if they pulled a stunt like that on my at my house and I found out they were lying.
Angers me to even think about someone pulling that kinda stunt on your kids.

This is the high schoolers point of view. I am sure the parents were in on it.

LOL look at me, I was seriously upset. Yes of course the parents would be part of the whole scene. Count that as one more personal impact that story had. I of course dont drink and drive but just instantly got bad-news flashbacks from the past and imagined what it would be to be hearing something like as part of a stunt. I almost felt embarrassed by my last post, but thats a good thing its still so impacting.................Good Thread

It must be PROM time!!!!All schools must do this because mine did. Very similar, I think we even had the fire dept and police out there and actors covered in blood. Although it seems stupid and probably doesn't deter drinking and driving because I know I did it at that age. My tastes are more refined now and that was almost 10 years ago. We would get that nasty gas station liquor and Natti Ice and Wild Irish, and Malt Liquor like Steel Reserve- nasty stuff.... But I'm sure everyone knows someone that has been in either killed or hurt by a drunk driver or has been arrested for it....so even though its corny be responsible because one way or another an incident can ruin you life. I feel I was/am lucky not to get caught or be involved in an accident...some of my friends/aquaintances weren't so lucky...license suspended/paryalized/killed....
We had a helicopter too....at the time that was the coolest thing about it....and just getting out of class for an hour....wow, I've matured since ...seems funny weird looking back....

If it saves one life....
The toughest sermon I ever preached was on alcohol to my youth on the anniversary of the death of a classmate of mine. She, her little boy and unborn child were killed by a drunk driver at 4pm. on a Friday. Her story is one of those "public service announcements" where they show the video and then show the accident date.
Teens feel they are invincible (That's one of the factors involved in our soldiers being 18-19 year olds...). If it takes a visual aid and major production to save some lives so be it.
