So i have been looking into getting a protein skimmer for a while now and have been checking a couple out at my local lfs. Does anyone have opinions on the in sump RED SEA, Aqua medic, or Cora Life skimmer?? i have a 60 gal FOWLR and a 20 gallon sump. I have 2 fish, and am looking to get more but my bio load is holding me back.
Thanks in advance,
Bryce

what two fish are in there where its holding you back? i would say a coralife super skimmer 65. i've had two, and both worked wonders for me, but there are mixed reviews

i think the aqua medic turbofloater is the best choice of the three. the coralife super skimmer 65 is underpowered for an +-80 gallon system. if you go with a coralife, i'd use the 125 model.
i'd go with an ASM skimmer if i had a choice though. affordable and a proven design. for your system i'd go with a G1, or even a G1X.

Thanks for the quick replies, as far as my bio load, i think i can get by without one for now with my 2 fish, I looked into the ASM G1 online (only place i would be able to get it) because the 3 around me don't carry them. I am worried about it fitting in my sump. The dimensions that i saw worry me a little bit. As far as a Coral Life, one lfs has the 125 model and the 220 i think. Will i be okay with a 125 with just fish???

fish are the reason you want a skimmer. they poop much more than corals do
meanwhile, no one needs
a protein skimmer. you can accomplish the same thing with waterchanges. i highly recommend a skimmer though.

A skimmer is one of those pieces of equipment that it pays off to spend a little more. It results in better water quality and cleaner looking water.
Also, check online prices, you can save a lot that way. I buy all equipment that I can online, soooo much cheper than my LFS
I had a CSS 65, it wasnt the most efficient, but it worked. Just had to be cleaned every once in a while.
