I need to get this hooked up the the web. I have SBC dsl, what type or router should i get the BRAND and G or the N or N1 is there a real big difference in speed as far a game play. I know N1 is a bit more $ but i want to get it right the first time. I need a router and the plug that goes into the PS3. What do you use or recomend.

I tried a Lynksys first. I ended up getting a bunk one and it kept dropping my connection on my PS3 and my PC.
I returned it. Eventually tried another
Got a Netgear now was only 39.99 at best buy. My PS3 picked it right up and I have never had a problem with it yet.

I do have wireless internet that the ol' lady uses for her laptop, but i think that router is a peice of junk, she bought the cheepest one they make so...it may or may not suit my needs. So all you did is get you ps3 to search for a connection. I will have to look into that. I know our router is protected.

I used a Belkin N1 router, the set up was seamless. I had a Linksys and IMO It was a nightmare to set up. For some reason it wasnt accepting my WEP number and network password. I was soo furstrated I gave up on it, purchased the Belkin one and on the first shot it worked. Now I have verizon FiOs and they set up the router for me and that too was a seamless operation.

I still think IMO this is the better way to connect especially for online play. Wireless although good gets interupted too much and a lag in the connection more than 10 seconds gets you booted.

I wouldn't worry too much about getting a draft N router because I don't even know if the PS3 wireless card is an N card anyway. You should be fine with an a/b/g router.
I use the Linksys WRT350N. I don't really like to use wireless for gaming anyway, but this router is good because it has QoS and you can set it up so that when your PS3 is connected, the router will be sure that the PS3 gets most or all of the availible bandwith. That way you don't lag if your PC starts downloading something.
