So I have a section in the reef section under dennis 75 gallon reef tank
I have 2 fish in my sump tank (blue-green chrom'es)
I have some fish coming on wed of next week
2 clarkii
1 6 line
2 watchmen gobies
I plan on taking the blue-green chrom'es out next week or so
I saw a sale on the tangs I want....... on top of a purple tank being onsale
make's me want to place another order asap
I know I will have to watch my nitrates and do lots of small water changes over the next month till I get my levels in the normal again, so I have to say do u think it is worth it to me to risk losing a fish to get everything I want right now at a great price????
I figure if I can get all the fish i need in two bulk orders it would be easy on the fish to all get along in
this new tank ontop of saving me $$ I stock my other tank like this a couple of years ago and everything work out fine but it was a small tank and this is a much larger tank with more $$ fish to handle..
What to do what to do

I never add more than two fish in one month. You can't sock your tank in two bulk orders. PATIENTS..... The cheap comes out expensive in this hobby.
Tangs as in plural, for a 75g? 2 of the same type of gobies in one 75g tank? You plan on moving out the blue-green chrom'es, why, is it because you made an impulse purchase and really don't want those fish?
I think you need t spend your money on a good aquarium book instead, and it will give you something to do while you WAIT to make your next purchase.

I know that the tangs are for 100 gallons but all I have is a 75 gallon witha 20 gallon sump
the blue-green chrom'es were ALWAYS meant to just cycle the tank then to remove easy
from the sump tank. thats why I never put them in the main tank so it will be easy to catch them
DO u think I will have a problem with 2 watchmen gobies? I have another tank if I need to move them apart becauseI already made the order.....

I saw the Purple Tang on sale, look at that same page for the dealer's suggestion on minimum tank size...it says 100 gallons. IMO, a 75 is too small for most tangs and way too small for a purple tang, or any two tangs. The addition of your sump doesn't matter in this situation. Its not the water volume the tangs need, its swimming space. A 75 gal tank is only 4" long; not long enough (IMO) for most tangs, and WAY to small for a purple. Purple Tangs are quite aggressive and most fish become even more aggressive when they are cramped.

yeah....I'd cancel that order asap.....
I have a 225G tank and was watching my sailfin swim back and forth the other evening....it went side to side in less then a second...got me thinking....imagine if we could cross our whole world in under a second
that would suck...wouldn't it
Imagine this size fish in a 75G now...............

Yeah, when you see large tangs in both larger and smaller tanks; the reason for the swimming room is obvious. They just look & act like different fish in longer tanks. Most tangs in smaller tanks will end up nervously pacing (can a fish 'pace"?) back & forth. Their motion becomes jerky & erratic. In larger tanks, they seem much more graceful & relaxed.

I noticed most people set up their rock to all be in the back. I set up my rock in the center of my tank. It created extra swimming space for the fish. My Hippo tang is in a 90g which is also only 4 foot, and does not pace at all. He swims in and out of the rock work and all around through the back and front. So you can create a bigger swim area than the 4 foot in a 75g
I expect him to eventually outgrow the tank, but I have had him now for 5 years and he is only 4 inches from the size of my pinky nail…. so far so good.

Purchase ONE
SMALL or TINY tang and plan to let it go to another home, when it outgrows your tank.

Purchase NO TANGS!!! That's what I would do.....
......this is the most controversial topic in the hobby, other than the best way to kill damsels. (I prefer feeding damsels to large carnivores, why waste them?)
