Clean up crew for a 29 gallon. I asked a while ago. But what do you all suggest? I just want to build my own but I need some advice.

if you can afford it i would put in scarlet hermit crabs the blues are kinda murderous to eachother. and i like black brittle stars my 29 and 10 gallon tanks both have them. i have never had them eat anything that is alive they are interesting to watch and they eat a lot of waste. have had mine for a year. and more snails i just watched mine go across a patch of hair algea and the rock was left clean in his path. do NOT get a coral banded shrimp they are mean and will kill what they can catch and they are hard to catch when you try to get rid of them. and you will try to get rid of him. those nudibranch things look cool but they are delicate and get sucked into equipment so not good. a cleaner shrimp is also interesting they will even clean you if you put your hand in to move rocks or something.

My tank has been set up for about 2 months and I just added some of the clean up crew. I think I am going to put some red hermits in the tank also. Is that wise to mix the blue legs and the red? Also, my water is looiking great. I just did a water change for the first time. It took my tank a little longer to cycle due to some rock I put in a while ago. But now it is fine. When should I put the shrimp in? What about a emerald crab?

be careful about putting stars into a new tank. they'll do poorly. Stick with the obvious stuff -- good snails, a couple of emerald crabs, etc

the first post didnt say how long tank was running and i added black brittle stars to my tanks when it was a few months old and a year later they are about ten inches across this is in my 29 gallon reef tank also i have blue and red hermits in my tank just suggest you get the reds bigger than the blues.

Hey thanks for your help. I think Im going to get some red hermits. My tank has been up for a couple months. I really cannot wait. Hey in your 29 gallon tank, is it a reef tank? What do you have in it? Im just trying to get some Ideas of what I want. I know for sure that I want maroon or false perc, or black perc. two of one of the species and for sure I wont mix. but I would am trying to decide what would be good tank mates for them.

do not mix different kind of clowns. I REPEAT dont mix different kinds of clowns. heres the story i had a maroon in my 20 gallon and i bought a false perc. 2 weeks later my maroon was dead. stick with 2 of the same kind for example maroon and maroon or false per and false perc. you get the idea
