thats fine. depending on how you tune your skimmer you can make it lighter or darker. I do a fairly wet skimm so mine is light green and watery. dont forget to rinse the sludge off the inside of your skimmer cup and tube when you dump your skimmer.

totally depends on the model of skimmer. they are all different (well not all different but there a boatload of different designs)

Funny, I haven't ever noticed much a smell from my skimmer collection cup, even when it's real dark and nasty looking.
