Hello reefers,
I have been trying to get my male mandarin to eat mini mysis shrimp. Could it be that they are too small for him? They don't seem to be small to me. They mostly measure 3/8". Curled up as most are is 1/4". One LFS guy told me to get those. Another store told me that they might be too small. None of my other fish will eat these. I have been feeding them to the hairys so I don't waste a whole cube.

Have you be feeding him codpod? I don't it's the size, most mandarin won't eat frozen food. Only live food. How about you start giving him live brine shrimp then slowly add frozen brine shrimp. Once he eatting 100% frozen brine shrimp then start frozen mysis shrimp.

Is yours a male also? How big is your tank and how long have you had him or her? I was thinking of trying the jar in the tank and putting mysis shrimp in there. Figured he could see it better maybe and the bristles wouldn't get it right away. I have been culture copepods for several months and have been pulling them out to stick in the main tank.

He was eating live brine at first. Never bought frozen brine. But, he did eat a lot of the mysis yesterday. Wondering if it upset his tummy! Now he doesn't want it. Just went through my cheato in the main tank and pulled out a bunch of amphipods for him.
