The overflow for the tank I am looking to purchase handles 600 GPH I am looking to do a sump/refugium in the stand below in the 20 to 29 gallon range. What size in sump pump would I need?

One that is rated slightly higher or lower than your overflow.For instance I run a Mag7 and overflow rated at 600gph.The Mag is rated at near 700gph but loses 200gph at 4 ft height wise.

you definately want to match your return pump gph (after head loss) to your overflow box. i would go with a slower gph set up for your sump needs. if the water is flowing too fast through your sump than your skimmer will not be very effective. add powerheads or a cloosed loop system in your tank to increase gph in tank.

i agree with the above posts. you want to match the overflow with the return. i use a mag7 for my return on a 55 AGA reef-ready.

If the overflow handles 600 gallons per hour, I would go with a Mag 7. Mag Drives are excellent pumps.
