what skimmer should I get?

I Have a 210g fowler still in the cycling phase. I Have two fluval fx6 filters and want to get a Skimmer. Prefer an hob skimmer. read up on some reef octopus skimmers but don't know which one would be good for a 210g tank.

Octopus and Tunze are good brands, stay away form anything Coralife.

The largest skimmer I can think of is the Aqua C Remora, which might not be large enough for a 210. I just don't trust hang-on skimmers since my in-sump units have all, sooner or later, overflowed at least once. In a sump this is not a problem, but my wife will tell you, in pretty crude terms, that this is a very big problem with a hang-on unit.

The largest AquaC Remora Is only rated for a 120g tank. Two of them would barely do the job and in this hobby, the more the better.

The largest HOB I've seen is a Super Reef Octopus LX200S rated at 150g. Two of these might do it but they take up a lot of room on the back of the tank.

I have seen a set up where the skimmer (Sorry I don't know the brand of skimmer) is attached to the reef tank via a drilled hole, on the lower left hand side of a 225g tank. A skimmer doesn't have to be a monster to work, it's just the cup that needs to be dumped when it's full. So you wouldn't need a whole bunch of HOB skimmers. To be honest, you don't really even have to have a skimmer at all if you are not keeping corals.

i have like some white stuff at the top of tank and i read up on it and a lot of people said a skimmer would help. maybe just need a water change?

Hi... or more water movement on the surface, aim a power head toward the top.

yeah ill try that i have 2 fluval fx6 filters and one power head. should i get another power head or would that be too much?

For a 210g you should have at least one more.

I think of power heads like batteries. You shouldn't use two different types. I would try to get the same brand and size. That way your sure to match the movement.
