I got a 55 gallon tank with live rock. I plan on getting soft coral and fish. I just wondered what people are using as far as supplements? I read that I need to use two part calcium and other trace elements. I have been using instant ocean reef crystals. The package says it has calcium and trace elements. If I change my water once a week will I be all set as far as the minerals go?

With the livestock you mention a 10% per week water change should suffice.
In the future if you change your livestock just remember dose nothing you didn't test for first.

Ooohhh this is an easy one. And off the bat, I agree with spanko.
You don't need to add anything. You can get as anal as you want with supplements, and IMO, the very first thing you CAN do but don't have to, is balance your alk and calcium. As I said, you don't need to since your only planning on softies and fish, but if you wanna play around with dosing and testing, then find a balanced number you like and try to achieve it. You add very little and your testing all the way!
But yes, your salt mix already has all that you need in it to sustain a tank as you described.

I use Tech CB Part A, Tech CB Part B, Calcium, and Essential Elements. Then again I use Instant Ocean not Reef Crystals...

The only thing I dose is Mrs. Wage's Pickling lime to maintain my alk and calcium for my corals... other than that just do periodic water changes.
16oz can of pickling lime --- 2.29 lasts forever.
