Hey everyone, I've decided to hold out out on buying my first nice fish (flame angel) because I want to setup a skimmer in my tank and learn a few more things. Im going to be making an order for my skimmer soon but I also want to get some Vitamin and tank supplements along with it. What are the best vitamin and tank supplements to get for a 65 gallon FOWLR setup. Tank has been setup for 15 months now and just has one six-line wrasse in it. Thanks!

Selcon, zoe or zoecon for vitamin suppliments.
Calcium and buffer (alkalinity) if you are going to be growing coralline algea.
I am more in favor of doing water changes for anything else that you may need to replace the trace elements. Do them regular and you may not need the calcium and alkalinity suppliments.

Thanks Thomas, is there one vitamin supplement that I should get over the other? Selecon, Zoe, or Zoecon? Do I need all three or will one suffice? They all seem to be pretty much the same but I'm not sure which one I should get. Which would one you recommend? Thanks!

I use kent marine essentials. It helps replace the iodine for my softies instead of having to do so many water changes.

zoecon
Description: Diets deficient in omega-3 fatty acids can promote head and lateral line erosion (HLLE) syndrome in freshwater and marine fishes. Zoecon provides essential marine omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. Enriches foods for saltwater and freshwater fishes. Contains shark liver oil, which contains natural immune system stimulants. Useful in raising fish and invertebrate larvae, as well as fortifying live food for juvenile and adult fishes and invertebrates. Phosphate and nitrate free, and contains no yeast or sugars!
Active Ingredients: deionized water, marine lipids, ascorbic acid, thiamine, niacin, tocopherol, vitamin B12.
American Marine Selcon
Aquarium food booster that features highly unsaturated OMEGA 3 fatty acids, Marine Lipids (200 mg/g), Stabilized Vitamin C (200 mg) and Vitamin B12 Cyanocobalamin (240 mcg). Soak any freeze-dried, frozen food or dried food to give it additional nutritional value or use directly in the tank to benefit filter-feeding invertebrates. American Marine Selcon does not alter water chemistry and it does not contain Yeast, Phosphates or Nitrates. It also helps cure Head and Lateral Line Erosion / Disease. 60mL.
Zoe is a superior vitamin complex for Marine Fish, Invertebrates, and desirable algae. (Zoe does not contain phosphates as most competing vitamin supplements do, and will not cause unsightly algae growth!) It contains aquaculture grade vitamins, meaning that they are still active after one year in your aquarium! It is unique because it also contains natural minerals from spirulina and kelp sources. Competing products are preserved with glycerin, which is an alcohol and requires 50% concentration to preserve. Zoe is properly preserved, using less than ½% preservatives, yet has a 4-year shelf life with no refrigeration.
So whats the difference, in this case I believe that they are all good. I prefer Selcon or Zoe.
