What Tank should I get?

For about as long as I remember I have always been into fish. I have only had small fresh water tanks though, due to the fact that i've always lived in apartments and moved around alot. Me and my wife just bought our first home a little over a year ago and now i'm ready to start what I have always dreamed about, A salt water Reef tank. I have been doing some research one different tanks and I find my self unsure on what size to purchase. I looked at the Bio-cubes which seem nice since they have everything built right in, but the biggest ones they have are 29Gal which seems a little small. Then I looked at the Red Sea Max complete reef system (below is the link to that tank)

That tank seems good too, but its only a 34Gal and i'm worried that i'll wish it was bigger a few months down the road. So I need your help, I have the room to get a really big tank, but I only want a reef tank so i'm not sure what will be too big and I know I want something big enough so a year down the road i'm not kicking myself for being stuck with a small tank. So help me out Please!!!

I would go with a 55-75gallon reef ready tank. It might seem big right now but when you get bit by the "reef bug" you will just want to get bigger and bigger.

believe me you will regret not getting the biggest you can afford. I have a 150 gal reef. Take a look in the reef section and the photo section. There are very beautiful reefs in larger tanks. the smaller tanks are nice if you dont have room for a lrger tank, but most people end up upgrading in a yr. I started with a 55 gal and within a yr went to the 150.
I wish I had gone 180 though, Its the same lengh and height, but is wider which is better for a reef.
If you dont want that big, look at a 75 or 90. go for the wider tank.

Go as big as you can afford/have room for. A couple of things about bigger tanks, the bigger they are, the less you are limited as to what can go in it. Also, larger tanks have more water volume so they are easier to keep stable with all the water parameters and stability is important in maintaining a healthy reef tank. I would suggest a 75 gallon or larger to start with.

If you have the money the bigger the better, go as big as you can afford if you can afford a 300g get it, if you could afford bigger go for it. Good luck.

WOW, Thanks so much for all the good info. Now I just have to find a tank. I'll probably look for something between 75-150Gal.
I also have a tank thats a 7Gal that I used for fresh water a few years back and its been empty for a while. Do you think a 7Gal is big enough for a QT?
