I have the basic test kits, ammonia, ph, nitrates and nitrites and a cooper test that a buddy gave me. What other test kits do I need to purchase and who makes the best?
definitly get an alkalinity test alk and ph work together and when one goes screwy the other one will also. phosphats and calcium would be ones to consider also. high phosphates can cause alge blooms
Personally I prefer salifert tests.......been the best for me....available/reliable...
I test ph/calcium/alkalinity/nitrate/phosphates/sg/temp...on occassion I check iodine but that one can be difficult to get correct readings on....
I have ammonia and nitrite test kits on hand just in case they are needed but haven't tested them in months...but ya never know when an emergency may arise!!!!
