what the heck is this?? on shell of hermit crab.

ok guys... i have a hermit crab in my biocube... hes pretty big.... and i just noticed this thing on the top of his shell... its this little black ball thing... its really small... like a bread crumb.... and it has two tentacle type things that move very rapidly... they seem to scavenge the shell for food... my dad thought it might be a barnacle?? idk
