yikes, scary lookin'. Don't know, are all those legs his? Looks like at least 3 in the pic? Some kind of star? Slimey looking though.
We had a star hitchiker, but small and white.

looks to be some kinda crab, i think. the to front legs are huge, i cant really get a good look with my eyeball. the other thin ones are legs too. Crap i don't know.......

Get some tongs and snatch him up and throw him in a tupperware container or something so we can get a good eyeball on him.

tried to grab him, but, and your gonna laugh at this. I stuck my hand off in there with the tongs, rights in front of a power head, like to scared me slap out of my skin. Oh, and that little what ever it is can move......but hes got about 5 mins to vacate the premise's.....

HOLY COW!!!!! That thing was in your tank? When did you buy your last LR ? I am going to say he hitchhiked but my lord that thing is huge! Is he as big as he looks in the pics? I hope he is good for your tank, because what the heck will you do with him?

Hes not as big as he looks, they are really close up. he is about the size of a half dollar. I bought my last live rock about 8 months ago. When i put him in the tank, i got a good look at his...um....butt. Really funny lookin. like he has a tail, and it was curled up under him, but small compared to the rest of his bod.

I have gotten a few with my rocks too. They have done no harm that I could see. Matter of fact its like Christmas when I find them. If you dont want him I'll be glade to but him in my tank. Most of the time they just seem to hide in the rocks. I have 4 differnt types that I know of. Sorry I can not give you a positive ID on crabs. "Not that much skill yet"

Nobody can give you an ID on that crab with just a picture.
I agree with Waterfaller - the shell design indicates a predator. Once it gets larger you'll be missing fines & tails and eventually whole fish.

dillybobs,
I would be glad to let ya have him. I really don't feel safe putting him back in my tank, but i dont want to have to kill him. Its not his fault that i bought his "home". Drop me an email kressl@ diespammers bellsouth.net with your addy, and i will glady send him to ya!
thanks to everybody
