hey everyone..
i used chemiclean red slime remover and i havent had algae in close to a week.. i just noticed a little today.. what gives? cyano is bacteria and no algae so does this control phospahates? if so can i use it regularly? like once a month? i also went from using all 8 bulbs all day to 4 for most of the day to 8 for a few hours then back to the other set of 4.. could this do it? all corals love it but would stony corals?
has anyone else used chemiclean red slime remover?
thanks again..

I used a few times when I got desperate. It worked to remove the red slime but caused massive micro bubbles and I had to turn off my skimmer for a few days. After a while the slime came back. In the end I wound up breaking down the tank and scrubbing off the red slime.
My tank had been up for 2 years before the breakout. I haven't had a problem since I put a fuge on my tank and change out my bulbs.

I hope this is a typo... if you have a 90 gallon, 300gph of flow is not much at all. you want atleast 10x turn over per hour. More if you keep coral.
That is only having your tank turned over a little over 3 times per hour. I have 1200gph of flow in a 75gallon and definatly need more. So im adding a korilia 3 which is another 850gph...
I had a cyano outbreak when i first set this tank up and i did a huge water change and up'd my flow to the 1500gph and it hasnt been back since.
I do have a couple dead spots in the middle of my rock work that do not get enough flow and is collecting detritus so im adding a powerhead to make sure its not possible for anything to settle on the rock work.

I just used it about a month ago and it work great! Everybody does say to add more flow and i did that and it seems to help alot! Also i really work on removing my phosphates and reduce feeding.

i was asking about the chemiclean info not lookin for cyano info.
Chemiclean does not remove phosephates. You need to discover why it is growing more than anything. Usually overfeeding or dead spots is the reason. Chemicals will only get rid of it for a little while.

oops forgot zero..
i have 2x HK #4's (1200gph x2 =2400 gph)
overflow with 600 gph coming out up to 3000 and then a hob filter if that counts fopr anything i would say a little over 3000 gph.
my tank has been kind of wierd though..
sometimes i can go months with it gone and other its come back for weeks.. the tank was all set then i moved rock around and have been fighting with it since.
i think i got it fixed? nut im not sure here i will be watching the tank
