What to do about scratches?

Well I did it.
I was cleaning the fron glass of my acrylic tank with a mag foat. I usually check to make sure that nothing is between it and the magnet. I thought I did but there must of been a samll partical of sand between it. I did not see then at first but now I can see them will. Nice scratches on the fron glass. I can not believe this.
So of course they are on the inside. I dont think to deep. You can only see them when close up but I think it looks terrible.
So I guess that I have to dump everything out of the tank to use anything to try to get them out? Is this right? All water, sand, and etc.?
I am still in the middle of setting up. I mean that I do not have all my LR or any corals yet. Or any fish for that matter. So I guess that is the good news. I do have sand and some LR and soem inverts. It has been up for almost 3 months now. I am almost thinking of just trying to fix it and selling it if I have to go through a lot and getting a least a 75 gal. tank when I can. This one is a 55 gal. This just really sucks.
If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

So this Rainbow Lifeguard stuff. This can
e used in the water or do you have to empty the tank? It sounds to good. :D I will go look for it myself. Where di you guys find it?
Thank You again for all the post. If anyone else has had any expereince with this please let me know. Or if you have used something else please let me know. It just made me sick last night when that happend. The good thing is I dont think they are very deep at all and other people say they can barly see them, but I can.

Well I got the link. Thank You.
I still have not yet been able to read about it. I guess I have to empty the tank. Do I have to take out all the sand? I guess I do, I mean If I am sanding in there I would not want that stuff getting in the sand. I keep looking at it and there seem to be quite a few pretty long scratches. Not very deep though. I guess that is the only good thing.
What about using some stuff, I forget what it is called but it is a liquid like almost wax that is supposed to get the scrathes out. Does anyone know if I can use that stuff on the inside of the tank? If I do what do I then clean the galss with after to make sure there is not any bad chemicals left on the glass.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

Believe it or not... I'm actually starting to get used to my scratches! <smile> At first I was horrified. My tank's been up for apx. 3 mos. and it's a 180 gallon. I would point out the scratches to anyone that would look. Really, I'm really the only one that notices them.

If anyone has any ideas if would be greatly appreciated.

On this website you can find a variety of scratch removers which can be used without draning your tank. Depending on how bad the scrathes are you may need 2 or 3 different grades of scratch remover.
I have used these on my acrylic tank, they don't work miracles but are worth the money...

I cant tell ya how to fix the scratches, but I will say that I too did the same thing----amazing what 1 grain of sand can do! It's been months since it happened and I dont even see them now (too much other intersting stuff to look at). But I will say not once has someone come over and said "what is this scratch?" It's more like "whats that do (PH)" or "how many fish you have"--no one but myself knows about the scratches---HTH. It's a lesson learned.
