What to do about the top of the tank?

OK, I've got a 55Gal tank that has that cheap ole canopy on it that comes with every 55Gal freshwater walmart tank... My brand new Orbit lighting system came in today and I realize the cheap top has got to go....
I can't just leave the top of the tank open to the air, what do I use to close off the top, still leave access for lines/feeding and still use the orbit lights?

good options are: eggcrate(also called light diffusers), or plexiglass cut with holes in it(for heat dissipation)..

check ur LFS they usually carry glass and plexi tops......

If you have jumpers eggcrate is a good option.
My lights are about 12in. off the top of the tank, and it's open.
If you're not too worried about your fish jumping out, leaving it open is ok.
