What do you guy do in case of power outages? I have been thinking about this a lot lately, because we are heading to the midst fo winter, and i live in the mauntains of California....Im worried about loosing power and everything in my tank deing from temperature change or soemthing...We can sometimes loose power for up to two days!!!
Are there any like battery powered heaters i can have for backup? I need to be prepared for this...

Buy a generator. It's the best way to insure that your critters will survive a power outage. Good thing to have anyway.

I heard that Radio Shack sells a device (sorry don't know the name) Converter maybe? That you can hook up a car battery to and plug like 1-2 things into. Might be worth checking out.

I have a generator. I also keep battery powered air pumps I use when power is only out for a short time.

Radio shack converter for ~$40. Average 12V battery will easily run a heater for 3+ days. Nice to run other things too like a TV ect... when the power is out.

They go to a 12 V battery. Also come with Cig arette adapter. You can cut off cig adapter and hook to 12V battery or wire into the cig lighter wires. Just put on alligator clips or even a bare wire wrap on a 12 v battery. Test current to make sure it is pos on pos ect.. with a cheap light or something.
