What to do next??

I have a 125 gallon tank. i have 160 lbs of sand, 80 lbs was live. We just set the tank up 2 mondays ago with 75 lbs of live rock. Today i added 100 lbs of lr. A few days ago the diatom blooms started. My kids swear i'm pouring cinnamon in the tank. So now i'm wondering what i should do next. For instance, how long should i wait before i add a cleaning crew. Also, can anyone give me their opinion on the cleaning crews on this website as far as the best one. I'd really appreciate feedback. Thanks a lot. Time for me to get the flashlight and go check out the critters! I found out that i have a bad crab in there that i will have to get out. But until i start getting stuff in there i'm leaving him. My kids already named him Bob. Have a great weekend!

Just kick back and wait for that brown crap to go away. Get a test kit. The bloom will eventually fade away (anywhere from 2-4 weeks). When it does start testing the water. Once everything looks good go for a cleaning crew. As far as which one to get, well thats up to you, and how much you want to spend. I do recomend getting the crew from SWF.com. I did and only lost a flame scallop a month or so after putting it in the tank (not enough plankton in the tank for it). I hope this helps. Enjoy.

I appreciate the info. Can anyone recommend a good test kit? I don't have to really test for everything because i use a RO pre-mixed water from my LFS.

I just got my clean up crew yesterday from swf.com and i'm completely pleased. Better than expected!
